石大图书馆始建于1953年，当时是北京石油学院图书馆，在清华大学石油工程系图书资料室的基础上建立。迁校山东后，先后于1980年、1997年两次在东营建馆。2004年在青岛建成本馆，2020年建成图书馆东馆，青岛部分馆舍总面积4.7万平方米。图书馆馆藏纸质图书文献323万册，中外文纸质期刊2100种，电子图书188万种，电子版学位论文912万种，电子期刊4.2万种，数据库124个（截至2020年）。
本馆建有3个书库和5个阅览室，阅览区、研读区、休读区拥有座位资源3600个，实行以读者为中心的藏、借、阅、咨询一体化的服务模式。本馆为读者提供书刊借阅、资源查询、科技查新、信息服务、馆际互借与文献传递、用户培训、电子阅览等服务，是学校教学科研最重要的公共服务体系之一。
石大图书馆将进一步加强资源建设，强化优质服务，强化阅读环境、人文环境和学术环境建设，把图书馆建成“成长成才成功的摇篮，学生学者学术的家园”。
China University of Petroleum Library
China University of Petroleum Library （UPC Library）was established in 1953. It used to be the library of Beijing Petroleum Institute, which was founded on the basis of the Reference Room of the Petroleum Engineering Department of Tsinghua University. Since its movement to Dongying City, Shandong Province, the library has been rebuilt twice in 1980 and 1997. The library on Qingdao campus was built in 2004, and its eastern section was built in 2020. The Qingdao campus library totally covers an area of 47 thousand square meters. UPC Library has a collection of 3.23 million volumes of printed books, over 2100 kinds of domestic and foreign printed periodicals, 1.88 million types of E-books, 9.12 million types of E-dissertation, 42 thousand types of E-journals and 124 databases (till 2020).
This Library contains 3 book stack rooms and 5 reading rooms. There are over 3,600 seats in the reading, studying and leisure-reading sections. The collecting, borrowing, reading, and consulting services of the library have integrated into a special mode which always takes readers into the first consideration. As one of the most important teaching and research public service systems of the university, the library provides readers with various services of book borrowing, data inquiry, science and technology novelty search, information service, inter-lending, document delivery, user training, and electronic reading, etc.
UPC Library will further strengthen the resources construction to improve its services, and build excellent reading, humanistic and academic environment so as to turn the library into “a cradle of growth and success, and an academic resort for learners and scholars”.
