There will be a lot of sessions at DrupalEurope. So many, in fact, you can’t attend all you would want to. Therefore, we have made a short list of the Digital Transformation and Enterprise sessions you don't want to miss. We sure won't.

Avoiding the "best practices" trap: thanks for the theory, but let's solve the problems I actually have first.

Thursday, September 13, 16:00

Michael Godeck, Business Analyst, Pfizer
Marin Balabanov, Content Designer, Appnovation Technologies Limited

Development teams often encounter various impediments. In this session, we will learn how to take a more scientific approach to these impediments and how to measure the success of changes in the process. But in order to reduce the risk of introducing new process changes, we need to understand the process that is changing.

Creating an enterprise level editorial experience for Drupal 8 using React

Tuesday, September 11, 17:00

Ruben Teijeiro, Drupal Hero, 1xINTERNET

With Drupal 8 REST API we can relatively easily create decoupled applications and use Drupal 8 as a back-end. Decoupled applications are usually used to display content and content editing takes place in the back-end. However, technologies like React can be used to create a great editorial experience as well. Given the powerful REST APIs in Drupal 8 a decoupled editing system can easily be integrated.

In a recent project, the team at 1x INTERNET created a decoupled application with React that allows content editing directly in the front-end. Ruben will present this application and explain what should we expect when going fully decoupled.

Fostering a contribution culture against a backdrop of secrecy

Tuesday, September 11, 13:45

Mr. Nils Ammann, Expert Digital Marketing Solutions, BASF Coatings GmbH
Paul Johnson, Drupal Director,
CTI Digital

BASF is a global company of car production. In this session, we will find out what issues BASF was facing, related to Drupal's translation capabilities. Despite the efforts of the development team to eliminate vulnerabilities, they soon realized that the problem was in the Drupal core. They drew upon the Drupal community for advice and with the help of their partner, CTI Digital, fostered an open source mindset in an industry.

Upgrading vs. Upcycling - How to stay ahead of the curve

Wednesday, September 12, 16:00

Josef Dabernig, Agile Consultant, Amazee Labs

Josef will explore different approaches between upgrading and upcycling existing websites. Websites are getting rebuild between 3 and 6 years, due to online and technology trends. But what if a company is not ready to transition from their legacy web system into Drupal? In that case, upcycling might be the answer. Josef will focus on pros and cons of upcycling, improving a Drupal 7 site and when to migrate to Drupal 8.

The digital revolution at Chatham House - from fight to full flight

Tuesday, September 11, 10:30

Josie Tree, Head of Digital Strategy and Development, Chatham House
